Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces, also called clear braces, can be a beneficial treatment option for teens and adults that are interested in a more esthetic and less noticeable fixed orthodontic option. Our ceramic brackets are crystal clear and virtually disappear regardless of your individual tooth shade. Ceramic braces straighten teeth in the same method as traditional metal braces with the primary difference being that they are less noticeable.
For some patients, clear braces can be a better choice than clear aligners like Invisalign™. As a removable appliance, Invisalign™ aligners can be prone to being misplaced or lost, and this differs patient to patient. Clear braces are more like traditional braces in that they are bonded to the teeth and connect with wires which can be adjusted as needed to acquire the desired result. These types of braces used to be made of plastic but it was found that, because plastic is a porous material, they stained rather easily. The revolutionary decision to change the material of the brackets to ceramic composite solved that problem and resulted in a more esthetically-pleasing option that doesn’t stain.
The most prominent benefit of clear braces is the fact that they are not noticeable. Many teens and adults are reluctant to get braces because they are fearful of their appearance with metal appliances. Clear braces are unnoticeable to those around you, which will allow you to receive orthodontic care while not making you self-conscious about your appearance!
Apart from the obvious advantage of being less noticeable, there are additional benefits to using clear braces. Some patients have reported that these types of braces are less painful than the more traditional braces as they don’t irritate the gums as much. While they can be more fragile than traditional metal braces, the ceramic composite material they are made of is actually very strong, so the brackets should not break or chip unless they are badly abused.
